Lombard is Shipping!
Though it seemed that Apple would again be caught in a two month long shortago of PowerBooks like last year's Wallstreet launch, after a short delay Apple is shipping 333 and 400 MHz machines to customers.
The majority of shipping machines at this point are 400 MHz models to Apple Store customers. However, as the shipping channel continues to widen, more 333 MHz models will ship and more resellers will receive stock. If you've already preordered your machine and were given a ship date in the first half of June, you should actually receive it during this time, not another delay.
Refer to our compilation of reader emails on their PowerBook's situation here to view each reader's experience for yourself. Most are from the Apple Store, but there are a few Outpost.com.
It seems Apple Store for Education orders and international orders are going to fall to the latter dates. For the best feel for when your order is going to ship, refer to the shipping report page, that will be updated until the full retail channel is open. Also, continue to send in your own reports so that the greater public can judge when their machine will come in.
Also, please join us tomorrow night at our weekly PBZone chat. It'll be from 9:00 to 9:45 Central Daylight Time in our IRC channel. Visit our IRC page for details on how to get there.
