300,000 MacBooks in November

AppleInsider is reporting that Apple could end up shipping 300,000 MacBooks in November. Recent months had featured lower numbers due to the switchover to Core 2 Duo processors, but with the increased shipments, Apple is back on pace to ship over one million notebooks this quarter.

MacBook Wins Laptop Shootout

The CIO of Harvard Medical School and CareGroup, John Halamka, participated in an interesting review shootout, testing a MacBook running OS X, a ThinkPad X41 running two flavors of Linux, and a Dell D420 with Windows XP. Each machine received one month of use in a variety of situations for comparison. We won't spoil the rather comprehensive article, except to say the MacBook wins. We'll let the rest of it be a surprise.

As of this writing, the MacBook Pro is leading the voting with 44 percent, while the Nintendo DS is in second place with 37 percent, but voting is still open, so cast your vote!

Tom Bihn's Brain Cell Reviewed

Check out what has PBZone's designated reviewer so excited in his review of the Tom Bihn Brain Cell, half-bag, half-sleeve, all awesome.

An Apple Tablet: Demand and Will?

The ever-cromulent Jason D. O'Grady has a new column up at ZDNet on the potential for a new tablet Mac from Apple. Companies in Taiwan are rumored to be jockeying for the contract from Apple to mass-produce their tablet prototype. If nothing else this Spymac writer would buy one. He's looking for something to make right what most PC tablet makers have gotten wrong, or at least a 10-inch portable with Mac mini-like specs.

Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros Receive High Marks

Computerworld has a fairly in-depth review of the recently-released Core 2 Duo 17-inch MacBook Pro. While not drastically improved, the reviewer notes better performance without sacrificing battery life, as well as a future-proof (well, as future-proof as these things can be) machine with its power and networking features.

For a less-technical review, SF Gate has this review which suggests a new name for the MacBook Pro: Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo Super Orgasm Deluxe Ultrahard Modern Computing Device Designed by God Herself Somewhere in the Deep Moist Vulva of Cupertino Yes Yes Don't Stop Oh My God Yes.
