Wednesday, October 22nd 2003 10:17 EDT As PowerMacs Move to G5, iBooks Finally Updated to G4 Processor Without much fanfare, Apple today updated its iBook line of consumer portables to the G4 processor. There's one 12" model at 800 MHz that'll set you back $1,099 and two 14" models running at 933 Mhz and 1 GHz that cost $1,299 and $1,499 respectively. All models now include AirPort Extreme capability [$100], USB 2, Bluetooth capability [$50], an ATI Mobility Radeon 9200, 256 MB of RAM, and a Combo drive. The only difference besides screen size and speed between the models is the size of the hard disk, at 30 GB on the low end, 40 GB in the middle, and 60 GB at the top end. Also, the new iBooks come with Panther pre-installed, which saves you $120 immediately if you had planned to upgrade. The 12" model is available immediately and the 14" models are available "next week."
