Helpful reader Miles sent in his comments on two PowerBook accessories:
Just got the Spire 'Vurt' bag to replace one of those ubiquitous black Targus 'travelling
wage slave' bags our ITS bought for my new PB 500. Its awesome. Just the right size for
me; I take the PB on the train with me nearly every day, and this bag is the perfect size for
that..there's plenty of room for accessories, a larger book, a notepad and a few cds, but not
much more. Its very light, and quite compact. Best thing is that its fits very naturally and
ergonomically..you wear it more than carry it; completely unobstrusive when you're just
carrying the computer--but its a shoulder bag so its more convenient, totable and
(arguably) styly than a backpack. Perfect for jostling up crowded escalators, etc.. Fits the
G3 perfectly, and it has a removable pouch with a handle; you can just use the pouch if
you're just going to throw it in your car for instance.
There's additional padding in the bag,
but that seems more for your back's sake than the computer's. Very easy to get the
computer in and out, which was a key feature for me. Seems up to the quality standards of
decent backpacking gear. I paid $73 for it, including shipping.
2. Panasonic 'EBX' Ear bud headphones.
Sound is fine for small headphones..reasonable low-end, ok dynamics..but the cool thing
about them is that they come with a little container that you can roll them up in to. If you
care about these things, the design works very well with G3 colors (black, white, clear ,
silver) and design, esp. the AC adapter. Of course, the quality isn't quite up to Apple
standards, but what mainstream consumer electronic product is? $16.
